Ministry Blog of Nehemiah's Vision

Nehemiah's Vision is a faith-based, non-profit ministry founded in 2005 in Southeast Texas by a group of professional Christian builders. The goal of the outreach is to work to rebuild homes and churches for those affected by any disaster. Leadership, staff members, and dedicated volunteers from across the nation band together to provide this much-needed skilled labor and encouragement to those who need it most. Others support the growing work through daily prayer and giving.

Nehemiah's Vision is looking for willing volunteer groups

If your Sunday School class, choir, older teen youth group, or any other combination of workers is looking for an organized, beneficial mission trip, consider teaming with Nehemiah's Vision workers to provide labor and hope in rebuilding homes destroyed by any disaster. Since Hurricanes Rita and Ike hit Southeast Texas, more than 700 homes have now been repaired using volunteer labor and supervision from our work crew chiefs.

Testimonies from our volunteer family...

"God moved in some rad ways in our team while working with Nehemiah's Vision. Many were working through some very tough personal and spiritual issues. The hard work caused them to get out of their everyday lives, but then evening and worship times allowed space for them to interact with God and others.

I had many different and deep conversation with the team members. We talked about everything from decisions they had been making in their lives, to their questions about God, their doubts about His Word, and how they could know Him more.

Many of our team members looked back on this trip and agreed that the highlight was getting to know people with whom we worked, the people whose homes we were helping to repair, and others with whom we interacted. Every night the team members would come back to the church and talk about someone they met that day. And, they shared stories they had learned. Many of our kids chose to come back and continue to help people who are still in the rebuilding process."

One of the faithful volunteer workers learned that his mom passed away at her home while he was here in Texas. He came to our office to have some necessary paperwork faxed back to home concerning her arrangements and shared his story. With tears, he said he had the joy of leading his mom to the Lord just two short months prior to her death.

His parents had been non-believers all of his life and had, in fact, been staunch supporters of Madeline Murray O'Hare in her movement to take prayer out of the public schools. Our volunteer had been saved and attempted to share his faith with his parents to no avail. Many years passed and the couple refused to listen or to accept Christ. Just two days before his father died, he was able to lead him to the Lord.

Our staff offered to help him make necessary arrangements to go home to be with his family, and he said that wasn't what he wanted. 'I came to work and to help people. I know that my mom is in Heaven now and her body was cremated. I told my wife and children we would conduct a memorial service for her when I got home from the mission trip.'
